Seeds
What voice are you listening too? What seeds are you allowing to be planted in your mind, your heart? Are you allowing seeds of truth from the Spirit of truth or seeds of lies from the father of lies? If you choose the latter, the fruit from those seeds will only harm you emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It will affect every part of your life, whether you realize it or not. John 10:10 (NLT) says, “The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Unknowingly we are coming into agreement with the assignment of our enemy. We are giving him permission to steal, kill, and destroy.
Every day we have a battle that we fight, the battle in our mind. How will we choose to fight this battle of the mind? First, we must be able to discern between the truth (what God says) and a lie (what the father of lies says). Remember that the devil will disguise himself as an angel of light. When he met Jesus in the desert to tempt him, he used scripture to try to get Jesus to bow to him. Jesus knew the scriptures as well and he knew the truth. He fought with the spiritual weapons which are not carnal but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Our heart is fertile ground for seeds of truth or lies to be sewn. Proverbs 4:23 NKJV tells us to “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” How do we do this? Simply by following the word of God. He instructs us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV, “…bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” Let us look at some examples.
· Say one has an altercation with another individual that causes one to get angry. They either avoid the conflict, or they say something that they will regret. What does God’s word say? Ephesians 4:26-27 NKJV says, “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”’ Proverbs 16:23-24 NKJV says, “The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips. Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.”
· Someone has upset an individual by their actions and that individual wants to take revenge. What does God’s word say? Romans 12:19-21 NKJV says, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Whenever we are in need of help or understanding, we can call out to the Lord, we can seek Him, and He will be there to guide and instruct us in the way that we should go. Isaiah 30:21 NKJV, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Our Father who is in heaven does not leave us hopeless or defenseless. If we turn to Him, rely on Him and not on our own understanding, He will direct our steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). When we follow His word, it will bring healing to our soul, to our mind to our heart. We will begin to understand the heart of God and to see through His eyes and to love as He loves, to forgive as He forgives, to have compassion as He has compassion and more. This world is hurting and broken. Just as I have spoken of previously. Hurt people hurt people. If we would recognize the wounded and instead react from a heart of love rather than hurt, this world would be less angry and more loving. It would reflect the beauty of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This world needs to see and know the Jesus in you and the Jesus in me. As we rely on the Lord, let us encourage one another to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
1 John 3:18, NKJV, “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.”
