King of Glory

Psalm 24:10 NIV, “Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty—He is the King of glory.

Genesis reminds us that God spoke, and it was so. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were all present when the earth was created, when man was created.. When God looked over His creation, He said it was good. You and I are part of that creation! Psalm 139 NIV reminds us in verses 13-16, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

The King of glory breathed His creation to life. We are His works, His workmanship created to do good things! These good things will reflect the glory of our King, our Father, our Savior! Through these good works, we witness to those around us and by God’s Spirit, He brings others to Himself! How amazing is it that the King of glory included us in His marvelous plans to partner with Him?! Praise God for His love and tender mercies! Praise God that He has included us as His sons and daughters! Praise God, He has given us a purpose uniquely designed for us as individuals! He has a plan for you that I cannot complete, just as He has a plan for me that nobody else can complete! Jeremiah 29:11 NIV says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Plans to prosper, for a hope and a future, this should bring joy to our very being because the King of glory loves us so much to give us this promise. I want us to remember something so that we do not get discouraged or give up. Sometimes, what God asks us to do is not easy and can look or seem scary, but…

1. When Joshua and Caleb were going to check out the land that was promised to them, God promised them saying, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV).

2. You are not alone and you DO hear from the Lord! John 14:16-17 NIV “ And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth…But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 10:27 NIV, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.

When the King of glory wants to partner with you, do not be afraid! If you believe in Him and you believe His promises are true, then we must surrender to the King of glory and trust Him as He guides us in our hope and future! Remember, we cannot do out of selfish gain or impure motives. We do out of love, trust, and obedience. Luke 17:33 NIV says, “Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.”

The King of glory is our hope! He is our source of strength! It is by His Spirit with us that it is done. When we are weary and need help, He extends an invitation to us, Matthew 11:28-30 NIV, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The King of glory! What love He lavishes upon us!

Psalm 24 NIV

The earth is the LORD’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters. Who may ascend to the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty—he is the King of glory.
