Instruction

Life is filled with challenges. Sometimes we get hit with a challenge and we aren’t sure how to handle it. Let us handle it with truth and with grace. Let us handle it God’s way. God is all knowing. Psalm 139 tells us that He knows every word before we speak, and He knows our going in and our going out, when we lie down and when we rise. So when we are struggling, let us seek Him for council. Psalm 32:8, NKJV says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”

When we aren’t sure what to do, let us first pray and seek the Lord. As mentioned above, He is all knowing. There is power when we pray. Our enemy knows the importance of prayer and does not want us to use it! Why? Because it is our direct line the Lord God Almighty. He hears every word we say…and though we may not feel Him or see Him moving, we can be assured that He is working on our behalf. Psalm 121, NKJV says, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills—from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. As you can see, the Lord never slumbers nor sleeps, it is Him that will hold you fast!

Another direction of seeking Him, after going to Him in prayer is searching the Bible for truth that will speak into your situation. 2 Timothy 3:16, NKJV, says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” By reading this truth, we know that the word of God is a solid foundation for us to stand on and to seek truth for our situation. Regardless of what you are going through, there is an answer.

The last thing that I will suggest is taking the issue to a godly individual who can give you godly council. Someone who seeks the Lord and loves Him with all they have. They will be able to share with wisdom from God because their heart and mind is set on things above and not what is below. It makes a difference when you go to someone who cares about your salvation and the state of your being. Psalm 1:1-6, NKJV, says, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Seeking the Lord’s council will preserve you, it will cause you to flourish in the ways of the Lord and His purpose for your life. Make sure to continuously set the Lord before you. It is Him that gives us eyes to see and ears to hear. Let us be still to listen and to look. What does God want us to know for this time? For this season?
