Emergency Evacuation
If you would have an emergency, what would your evacuation plan be? Have you considered what your plan should look like and how to put it into action considering surrounding dangers? You cannot avoid a natural disaster, but you can plan for them. What does this have to do with God you ask? If we don’t have our own spiritual lives in order, there can be disaster! The devil is seeking to devour anyone that he can!
Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
We are not left without help or a plan. We could be going through a whirlwind of emotion or a shaking that causes unbelief or inability to trust. Your life could be flooded with bitterness, anger, hopelessness and more. This is where our emergency plan needs to be in place, ultimately taking it all back to Jesus. On our own we are weak, but with the Lord, His strength is displayed in our weakness.
Ephesians 6:10-18 is a great place to begin putting our emergency plan together. Let’s look at what we need.
1. Belt of truth
2. Sandals prepared with the gospel of peace
3. Breastplate of righteousness
4. Shield of faith
5. Helmet of salvation
6. Sword of the Spirit
7. Prayer
8. Praise…this is not found in Ephesians but I feel is equally as important as the rest. The importance of this can be displayed in 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 NKJV, “Indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,” that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
Without these necessary pieces of armor in our spiritual lives, we are leaving ourselves and our armor open for disaster. Are you spending time with in God’s word to learn truth and be strengthened? Are you spending time with God in prayer so you can know His heart and His plans for you? When you draw near to God, He will draw near to you!
It’s never too late to get your emergency evacuation plan in order! With a life that is Christ centered you will have safety, you will have shelter. Psalm 91:1 NKJV,
“ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
